Migration Rainbow
A long time ago, my ancestors migrated to Yakutat area from the North. One of our oral stories says that while they survived through a snowstorm, they saw what the thought was the tail of a rabbit. As they moved forward, they came to realize that what they were looking at the peak of Mountain Saint Elias far off in the distance. This mountain came to be the mountain that looked over our people and still does today. The tail of what my ancestors thought was a rabbit is depicted in this design.
